What is midwifery?
Midwives provide care, advice, and support during pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood.

Support informed choices and provide health education and parenting advice.

Lead professional for antenatal care.

Conduct clinical examinations, screenings, and parenting classes.

Identify and manage high-risk pregnancies.

Educate parents post-birth with feeding, safe sleep, newborn care and wellbeing.

Are registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
Within the Humber and North Yorkshire Local Maternity and Neonatal System (LMNS) there are roles in each of the three Provider NHS Trusts – Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH) , Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLaG) and York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (YSTHFT) .
